About
Australia’s Melbourne is home to the public research institution known as the University of Melbourne. It was established in 1853, making it Victoria’s first university and the second-oldest in all of Australia. Its main campus is situated in Parkville, an inner neighbourhood to the north of Melbourne’s CBD, while numerous other campuses are spread out around Victoria.
The university consists of ten distinct academic units and is affiliated with a large number of research centers and institutes, including the Grattan Institute, the Melbourne Institute of Applied Economic and Social Research, the Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health, and the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research. There are fifteen graduate schools at the institution, among them the Melbourne Business School, Melbourne Law School, and Melbourne Medical School.
